The Holocaust started because of the view that there was a superior race of blond hair and blue eyes white child. The leader of the Nazis which was against other races, was Hitler. This was a genocide of 6 million Jews, gypsies, and anyone that was not blond hair and blued eyes. Hitler convinced the Nazis that the reason he wanted to kill Jews was because he thought they caused poverty. Some other races including Jews escaped, hid, or fought, but most of them died in pursuit of freedom. Most were living in peace and minding their own business and then were took to concentration camps where most died, were tortured, or few escaped. Some people helped Jews, some just ignored the fact of the genocide until it affected them. Many countries were affected and many tried to help get people out of the affected countries.

I was not satisfied with the end because the way the boy just went with that family left me with a sense of confusion. I didn't understand how the family was following them without them noticing. I feel that the author was trying to say that not everything ends as expected and that happy endings aren't fully capable. The author made the text intentionally stagnant adding to the mood of the story. I thought that this was an implement to the text and to the reader. I still am not happy with the way the book ended but I think that if the man hadn't of died at that point the boy would've also died. I think that the only reason the father of the family that had been following the boy and the man came and helped, and not just stay hiding on promontories or in caves, was because of the death of the man. They knew what the man was capable of and that if they'd tried to mess with the boy and himself they would've probably gotten killed. The man was in a sense crazy, but aren't we all.
I thought that the situations in the middle of the book were very graphic. Most of the humans that they find are discarded and starving or dead from a tragic event. When the man and the boy found the shelter with the all the food I was so happy that they decided to stay there for a little while. The author put a lot of balustrades under the story that were not obvious. The boy and the man bivouack near the road at one point and I was scared that the "bad guys" would come and find them.
I think a good hero is made from many things. One of those things is fighting for what you think is right in your heart and ethical. They have to be brave and never give up for your cause. Hero's have to have qualities of a good person, like being able to know when to act. I think these are qualities of a hero because, well, these are the things we have been taught since a young age.
McCarthy's language helps the reader because he shows the darkness because the connotation of the words make the tone more obvious. McCarthy shrouds information and you have to peel away the layers of the onion so to speak. I have found that McCarthy has created a macadam for the story and we are travelling down it like the man and the boy. The way the sentences are short and "rachitic" like the man that was going to pee and the man killed him. (That was so gross) McCarthy's tone is dark and mysterious and stressed all at the same time. As readers we feel the stress and may feel empathy from it or we may just feel calm and wonder what is going to happen.
This story has survived throughout the ages because the lessons taught in the story are valuable and ways that have changed are able to be look at and contrast the differences of the times. This piece is an important part of literature because it was considered the first heroic tale and people have based other great tales off of this story. But what happens when this piece is looked at for an example you get all of the same points and women and men were looked at the same throughout history. Women have to be sought after and men have to seek them. Other women have to tempt the hero to get off of track and the women have to be soft and weak. The main hero has to be strong, smart, handsome, and of course, on a long journey that is postponed by mini adventures. Odysseus should have been punished for such things as sleeping with Circe while his wife was faithfully waiting for his return.
The ring. The most important part of the movie is the ring, the whole story being about the ring. The ring contains special dark magic or something like that. So the hobbits were trying to keep it away from the dark wizards (whatever they are called). And the little hobbits with hairy feet are running away from these scary robed people that have weapons and are trying to kill the little man with blue eyes, because he has the ring from his uncle (I think). And the nice wizard that looks like Dumbledore is trapped on a roof and captured a dragonfly or something and whispered to it, while these scary noseless creatures were tearing down trees, and digging in the mud. Then the little hobbit with blue eyes got stabbed by the robed men and a women came and rode off with him on her horse trying to get the hobbit to her father so he could heal him. They barely made it in time and when they got there the grey wizard was there and so were all the other hobbits that had came along on the journey. Even though they got the ring to Rivendale they can not keep it there. They gathered a council of important people and told them that they must destroy it and someone has to take it to the only place where it can be destroyed. Of course the little hobbit volunteered and the wizard is going with them and then people of the other groups are coming as well as the hobbits that started the journey. That is what has happened as far as I've seen in "The Lord of the Rings".
